Gruber & Maklar "Talking Trees"

Composition: Enjott Schneider. Performance by guitar duo Duo Duo Gruber & Maklar (quint bass guitar), Julia Mai / Wolfgang Berg (viola), Thomas Ruge / David Hausdorf (cello), Holger Herrmann (bass), Stefan Temmingh (bass recorder). Talking Trees is the title of the new production at Wildner Records. The renowned Munich-based film composer, Enjott Schneider, has created a wide variety of orchestral works. They include major symphonies, symphonic dances, solo concerts, and concert versions of orchestral soundtracks.

3Klaus Wolfgang Wildner, Enjott Schneider, Christian Gruber, and Peter Maklar worked for three years to complete this production. The compositions of Enjott Schneider are based on two historic quint bass guitars with a sound that can be described as powerful, melancholy and impulsive alike. The instruments from the 1920s were frequently used in guitar quartets that were popular at the time. The quint bass guitar is also very well suited as a solo instrument or in the context of a virtuoso duo. Enjott Schneider composed 13 interludes on the Celtic Calendar of Trees. The music was performed with two original quint bass guitars built by Hauser in 1922 and 1924 and a newly built quint bass guitar by Andreas Kirschner from 2008.
